Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Mix graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar, and melted butter until crumbs are evenly moistened. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the pan to form an even crust.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add 1 cup sugar and beat until creamy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing gently after each so the batter stays smooth. Stir in vanilla.
- Fold the diced apples into the batter with a spatula.
- Spread the filling over the prepared crust. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the top and use a knife to swirl it into the batter for a marbled effect.
Baking
- Bake for 35–40 minutes. The edges should be set while the center has a slight jiggle. Avoid overbaking to prevent cracks or a dry texture.
Cooling
- Cool bars completely on a wire rack, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares.
