  • 1 loaf bread (French or challah), day-old Recommended to use day-old bread for best texture.
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
For Serving

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  3. Cut the loaf into 1-inch cubes and spread them evenly in the prepared dish.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth.
  5. Add in the milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until thoroughly combined.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Gently press down to help the bread soak up the custard.
  7. Cover the dish tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for the best flavor.
Baking
  1. After chilling, uncover and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until golden on top and set in the center.
  2. Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes. Slice and serve warm.
