Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
- Cut the bread into roughly 1-inch cubes and evenly distribute them in the prepared dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs until well combined.
- Add the milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt to the eggs. Whisk until the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring each piece is well-soaked. Press down lightly to help absorb the liquid.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for the best texture.
Baking
- When ready to bake, remove the casserole from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.
- Bake in the oven for 40 to 45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted near the center comes out mostly clean.
- Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before cutting. Serve warm with fresh berries, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Notes
To store leftovers, let the casserole cool completely and then store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days. Reheat portions in the microwave or oven. For long-term storage, freeze slices wrapped in plastic wrap and aluminum foil for 2-3 months.
