Ingredients
  

For the shrimp
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined (tail-on or tail-off is fine) Pat shrimp dry with paper towels before cooking.
  • 1/4 cup honey For a lower-sugar option, reduce honey to 2 tablespoons.
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (use low-sodium if preferred) Taste the sauce before adding.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic lifts the dish.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or another neutral oil) Use medium to medium-high heat for best results.
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • optional cooked rice or vegetables for serving Great served over steamed rice or a mixed green salad.
For thickening (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch Mix with a splash of water for a thicker glaze.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Stir until smooth and set aside.
  2. Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until it shimmers.
Cooking
  1. Arrange shrimp in a single layer in the skillet. Cook without moving for 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Turn each shrimp and cook another 2 to 3 minutes until they are pink, opaque, and just firm.
  3. Pour the honey-garlic mixture over the shrimp. Stir constantly for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the shrimp.
  4. Taste and finish with salt and pepper. Serve immediately over rice or vegetables.

Notes
