  • 15 oz 15 oz / 450g ground turkey Can be substituted with ground chicken or tofu.
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp 1/2 tbsp brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tsp 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp red chili flakes Adjust to taste.
  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp sesame oil Plus 1 tbsp for sautéing.
  • 2 cloves 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp fresh ginger (grated)
  • 6 tbsp 6 tbsp chives (chopped) Reserve some for garnish.
  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp sesame seeds For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and chili flakes. Stir until the cornstarch dissolves, then set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about a minute until fragrant.
Cooking
  1. Add the ground turkey to the skillet. Cook while breaking it into smaller pieces until it’s browned and no longer pink.
  2. Pour in the prepared soy sauce mixture and cook on high heat for about two minutes. If too thick, add a tablespoon of water to adjust consistency.
  3. Toss in chopped chives, reserving some for garnish, and remove from heat.
  4. Garnish with sesame seeds and remaining chives. Serve hot, preferably with rice and vegetables.

Notes
