  • 10 slices slices of bread (day-old or slightly stale) Brioche, challah, or whole grain can be used for a unique twist.
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries Thawed frozen blueberries can be used if fresh are unavailable.
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk Whole or 2% milk.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter For greasing the baking dish.
  • to taste powdered sugar For serving (optional).

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the bread into 1 to 1.5-inch cubes.
  3. Layer half of the bread cubes in the greased dish, then sprinkle half of the blueberries over them.
  4. Add the remaining bread cubes on top, followed by the rest of the blueberries.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and blueberries, pressing gently with a spatula to ensure everything is coated.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight.
Baking
  1. Uncover and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the top is golden and the center is set.
  2. Allow to cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
  3. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes
